Investing in a greener world
The next time you visit Morley Hayes, take a look at our roofs and you'll see dozens and dozens of solar panels.
In fact, we have no fewer than 390 panels at Morley Hayes, reducing our reliance on the national grid and fossil fuels and saving approximately 42 tonnes of CO₂ every year.
But that is only the beginning of the story, because we have invested heavily in a range of sustainability measures in our bid to significantly reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and cut our greenhouse gas emissions, which we are proud to say are already 28% lower than they were in 2019, exceeding our industry's own targets.
We were one of the first venues in the Midlands to install electric vehicle charging points and now have 12 across our complex.
All of our golf buggies are electric E-Z-GO models, our lawnmowers and maintenance equipment are electric, and we are currently trialling an electric commercial ride-on mower and exploring AI-driven ground-care technology.
We have also invested in an electric Mercedes people-carrier to collect guests from the airport and railway station, and an electric van for our supply runs.
We have fitted a biomass boiler to heat our water rather than using oil and are replacing the gas burners in our kitchens with induction hobs to reduce propane consumption. Our conference guests can power their laptops and phones from our solar-powered 400W tabletop batteries.
We are proud to say we are a zero-to-landfill site. We have reduced our total waste by 55% since 2019, and any food waste we generate goes to an anaerobic digestion facility where it is converted into biogas, so nothing is wasted and nothing is buried.
Every day we measure what we do and look for ways to do more, tracking our CO₂ emissions, energy and water consumption, recycling rates and food waste across every part of the business.
And because we believe sustainability starts with what's on your plate, we source 75% of our food and drink from within 15 miles of Morley Hayes - from family-run farms and local producers who share our values.
